Educational Seminars

Given that many Chinese American students, as similar with AAPI students, are limited English proficient and/or live in a household where their parents have limited English proficiency, CAPSC acknowledges and underscores the importance of education and investment in lifelong learning and works collaboratively with all stakeholders and partners to build an inclusive relationship with the Asian American community to ensure greater dialogue and investments in youth education.

We continually support and organize  education initiatives that will are critical for the academic and overall growth of school-aged children and their parents, providing education seminars/ workshops (i.e. Common Core Standards, College Admissions Process) for students and immigrant parents.

We also hold community workshops as it pertains to youth mental health and leadership development. These workshops educate and empower parents to become their children’s most effective advocates as well as teach youth leadership skills.

We offer seminars for youth on how to successfully interview and interact with potential employers, imparting pertinent skills to sharpen their resumes, cover letters, and interviewing skills.  We  organize youth leadership forums to provide a platform for local youth to be cognitive of community and local issues and develop viable solutions to address them collectively.

UFT / CAPSC Annual Parent Education Conference

In partnership with United Federation of Teachers, Chinese Americans Parent-Student Council organizes an annual Parent Education Conference. This collaborative and informative platform allowed community parents and families to interact and exchange in content–driven ideas related to their child’s education with both educators and each other, thus creating a sustainable pipeline to transform the lives of our children through quality education.

CAPSC underscores the importance of quality education for our youth community, lifelong learning, and aim to bridge the gap and to ensure greater investments, participation, and dialogue in youth education, equipping them with the necessary skill to address societal inequities and issues.
